By multiplying and diversifying channels of access to data to meet the knowledge requirements of a highly differentiated spectrum of users, official statistics places itself at the service of the community and within the reach of all citizens.

The Statistical Information Centres (SICs) located in every region and autonomous province constitute a network of information points where users may produce personalised statistical analyses, purchase products published by the Institute, take out subscriptions, request sample collections of elementary data, obtain certifications regarding price indices and assistance in seeking data for graduate dissertations.

Access to harmonised, comparable statistical data across the 25 European Union member states is guaranteed by the European Statistical Data Support which is active at the centre in Rome.

The catalogue of published products ccontains a complete list of Istat publications, which are divided into series and sectors. It is possible to take out a subscription ato one or several published products: Istat guarantees that all published products relating to the chosen sector will be received at the address of the subscriber’s choice during the twelve-month subscription period.

At the SICs users may also request personalised data analyses and sample collections of elementary data, on condition that respondents’ privacy is respected, and access the Elementary Data Analysis Laboratory (ADELE) to carry out more detailed enquiries.

The Istat library, where publications are accessible via a computerised catalogue, is one of the richest in terms of statistical and economic subject matters.
