Employment and unemployment: provisional estimates

In order to improve the timeliness of statistical information on the Italian labour market and in accordance with the agreements made within the European Union, Istat publishes monthly estimates of the main labour market indicators resulting from the “Labour force survey”.

Istat estimates that 22,9 million persons were employed in June 2011 (provisional data). Employment rate was 56.9%, unemployment rate 8.0% and inactivity rate 38.1%.

According to the SDDS programme of the IMF, Istat disseminates an annual calendar of press releases both on Istat and SDDS website.
