Air emission accounts (Namea)

Istat releases the 1990-2008 time series on air emissions produced accordingly to the Namea (National accounting matrix including environmental accounts) satellite account, which allows to compare – with respect to the same production and households’ consumption activities - national accounts economic aggregates and environmental pressures.

The primary data source for emissions data is the 2010 National emission inventory produced by Istituto Superiore per la Ricerca e la Protezione Ambientale (Ispra) and used for Italian Communications within the framework of international conventions: United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the UNECE Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution (CLRTAP). Among the attached statistical tables, a bridge table is specifically devoted to show the link between Namea emission totals and those totals calculated by Ispra within the mentioned international conventions.

The 1990-2008 Namea air emission time series entirely replaces the previously released 1990–2007 time series, due to changes to the Ispra emissions inventory as well as to some methodological changes introduced in the calculation of Namea satellite account. As regards economic data, which are consistent with the National accounts 1970-2009 time series (http://www.istat.it/dati/dataset/20100813_01/), changes concern the year 2007.
