Production and structural characteristics of the iron and steel industry

The tables that have been published report the data gathered by monthly surveys on production in the iron and steel industry, pursuant to and in accordance with CEE regulation no. 3924/91 of the Council and the annual survey on structural characteristics of the iron and steel industry, pursuant to and in accordance with regulation no. 48/2004 of the European Parliament and the Council, conducted in collaboration with the Association of Italian iron and steel companies (Federacciai).

The monthly statistics present year 2008 production data for each item in the industrial products classification (Prodcom list) that has been harmonized at the European level. The annual statistics contain year 2007 data on the balance sheet for scrap metal, on the consumption of energy resources, on the balance sheet for electric power, on investments and on productive capacity.

The surveys were conducted on all local production units (factories) of Italian industrial companies from the iron and steel sector.
