Data and products

To guarantee access to statistical surveys, to use up-to-date technologies for publishing official statistical information, to remove any barriers to the use of data. These are the aims of the Institute’s publication operations.

Survey results are made available through Istat’s publications, which are organised in 9 series responding to different information needs, and in 14 sectors, each relating to the topics dealt with. Some of the publicaitons are of a general nature, such as:

• the Annual Report, which contains a documented analysis of the Nation’s emerging problems;
• the Italian Statistics Yearbook, also available on CD-ROM, which gives the main statistical tables produced by Istat and other organs of the National Statistical System;
• the Monthly Statistics Bulletin, which provides a monthly update of current information.

The Institute’s traditional printed publications are supplemented by on-line publications: databases and information systems, organised by topic, and datasets, for prompt publication of the results of a statistical survey or analysis.

All of Istat’s publications can be found at the Statistical Information Centres (SICs) at Istat’s regional departments across the country. SICs provide advice about personalised data searches and analyses.
